I apologise in advance.  The following are names of streets in Medieval London which don't happen to sound funny by accident, they're just plain rude:

Gropecuntlane and the Bordhawe (Brothel-area) were leased from St. Paul's Cathedral.  Cock Lane near Smithfield was named for the same reason (as were Love Lane and Maid Lane).  Grub Street in Cripplegate was Grope Street.  When Queen Matilda's "necessary house" was enlarged for public use, it's location became known as Pyssingelane.  All found in "London, The Synfulle Citie", by E J Burford.

Hell is in Norway.

I visited Pudding Norton in Norfolk (a deserted village, just bumps in the ground now) during a history field trip at college.

An ancestor lived in Withy Pitts (in Turners Hill, still there).

In East Sussex, there are a couple of Cackle Streets which make me laugh (like an old crone).

Words have often lost their meaning over the passing years.

The delightful HONEY POT LANE might be a modern desirable place. A hundred years ago a honeypot was the nick name for the cart that collected the contents of the privy. ::)

One that always makes me smile is Piddletrenthide in Dorset and it has a river nearby called The River Piddle!

My favourite place name is TIPTOE, near New Milton in Hampshire.  I also like Knockin near Shrewsbury.

The village shop in Knockin in Shropshire is called The Knockin Shop.  A couple of elections back the usual voting station wasn't available and the shop owner offered the use of the shop but it was turned down.  For some reason the authorities didn't want to send out voting cards telling people their voting station was The Knockin Shop!

Sussex has a few more places yet, the village of Burpham and a few miles away in the downs Winding Bottom. Any more come to mind?
