Margaret Alice JENNINGS

NZ Death

1961 - JENNINGS - Margaret Alice - 68 years (bc 1893)

Electoral Rolls

Last listing for a Margaret Alice JENNINGS is on Eden (Auckland) e/roll in 1957.   (For Robert JENNINGS - last in 1949 at Roskill (Auckland)).

So burial or cremation probably Auckland area ?  (Some of cemetery websites are "down" at present - will look again later unless someone can find on burial locator ?)

Hi pincard

Hopefully by adding details for Henty's children here, a descendant might just spring forth.   :)

If not, then the info at least provides leads which may in turn enable death notices to be found ... and thus progress to the next step.

[I haven't followed up on Charles Henry WILLIAMS (b. 1907) - there are way too many similarly named chaps.   ;D ]

Hi, the info here is amazing and plenty more than I knew.  I found this thread quite by accident while doing a google search for May Chappell.
I did some searching for more details on my family myself last night..... I can confirm that Charles Henry Williams (son of Henty May Chappell and Thomas Owen Williams) died in 1969 at the age of 62.  He was cremated at Karori (Wellington New Zealand).  There is a website listing the deaths in all of Wellington Council's cemetries. Record no. 31681 indicates Charles Henry williams died on 23rd November 1969.  His wife Runa Mansfield Williams (maiden name Scandrett? spelling?) died on 9th October 1974 (68 years old), cremated at Karori also (record no. 39141).  There is another record for Runa and a photo of a plaque with the inscription "Charles Henry Williams MVO ...... and his wife Runa Mansfield ......"
Charles Henry Williams was my Grandpop and died when I was 8 years old.  I have two younger sisters. My Mum was Charles' daughter Jillian Eleanor Williams.  There were also two sons, Thane Williams and David (Owen? Charles?) Williams (we called him Uncle Doc).  Thane married Ray - had no children though. David (Doc) has four children (my cousins).
As kids, Mildred May I am told, pretty well brought up Charles.  Mildred did not have any children.  She moved to Sydney Australia, probably why a death registration in New Zealand could not be found. There is also the story that Mildred did marry and went on her honey moon to then walk out of the marriage about a week later.  Knowing my Great Aunt Mildred she probably never got a divorce?? and certainly did not re marry.
I don't know much about Margaret Alice except that my Mum called her Alice.  In regard to their brother Arthur Owen Williams I only know that he had a son and daughter, John and Doreen.  This would all need to be confirmed.  I never knew them as a kid and I would guess they were a lot older than by Grandpop Charles (Charlie).
My Mum described Thomas Owen Williams (married to May Chappell) as Welsh.  I have no other info on him.
I have also been told that Henty May had a sister called Eleanor though she was a bit 'delicate'.
I would love to find out more about the Chappells.  Particularly as I was given their name though my Mum changed the spelling.  Also to find out more on the Williams.  Having started I think I am hooked.

Hi Annable

    ....  Welcome.    :)

Wonderful  ... and so pleased for both you and "pincard" that you discovered this thread.   :)

And with the additional information you've provided, have now located Mildred May.

Mildred May WILLIAMS - died 20 May 1985 (Sydney)

...    late of Waterloo, formerly of New Zealand.

Her death/funeral notice was published in the "Sydney Morning Herald" on 23 May 1985.

If you go to the following site, one of the wonderful volunteers there will be able to send you a copy of the notice.   ;)

Hi Annable

The best place to start, is with a copy of the marriage record for (Henty) May and Thomas Owen.   ;)
This is the most reliable source, giving you information supplied by the bride and groom themselves.  [Info includes, their birthplaces, parents names - father's occupations/mother's maiden names  ... names of marriage witnesses who may prove to also be family members  ... ]

NZ Marriage

Henty May CHAPPELL - Thomas Owen WILLIAMS -- 1892

You'll find ordering details at the NZ BDM link given in my previous post.   [A "printout" of the marriage record (rather than a certificate), is the recommended purchase - less expensive and offers additional details. ]   ;)

Once you have that information, if you add it here, we can then (hopefully) assist you with the next step.  :)
