Lympne Parish Registers - GRIGGS
« on: Saturday 05 February 11 11:07 GMT (UK) »
I am researching the Griggs family of Dover / Hythe / Elham and am trying to find out as much as possible about a Charles Griggs b 1805 (thereabouts) who married Ann Harris at Lympne (I presume St Stephens) in March 1833.
The marriage is listed in the LDS records but the detail is scant - no addresses or parents' names. I wondered if the original parish record contained any more?
I live a long way from Kent, so it's not easy to check in person!
Hope somebody can help,
Frazer

I think Hythe Library has films of the Lympne parish registers.  If so, they should be able to look it up for you http://www.kent.gov.uk/KCC.Libraries.Web.Sites.Public/LibraryDetails.aspx?aid=0&lid=35

Although pre 1837 marriages are scant on genealogical information, it will be useful to have the names of witnesses as they could be relatives and, also, possible parish of residence and maritual status of both bride and groom.
