I'm posting that I'm 30, as in less than a week, I'll be 31 

I started when I was 13, after a school project on heraldry meant I went to my granddad for help (who's been researching the family since the 60s). He "bent my ear" for many, many, many, many hours after that, until his death in 2005 and he got me interested in it. I've had months and years "off" and part of me wishes I hadn't got interested until I'd retired, but hey ho!
