I have evidence that some of my relatives (Oliver and Corner) lived here circa 1901 but cannot locate it on the maps. Could some kind person please help me as to its whereabouts?

It will be Rosanna Street which was in Deptford, between Deptford Terrace and Ropery Road. Go to
http://gis.durham.gov.uk/website/interMAP/viewer.htm
and enter the coordinates 438430, 557665 in to search for the location.

Thank you Stan. I am getting better with the Durham GIS but find searches on the old maps difficult.

One useful resource for the location of streets are the Street Directories in the Historical Directories at
http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/
It is not 100% as a street is not listed if there is no entry for that street, but most streets are there.
There are also Street Indexes for the censuses.
Street Indexes are at

I have recently met with a distant relative from Australia whose family are the Hamiltons (James Hamilton and Mary Thomasine Herron), who lived in Rosanna Street. She would love to have a photograph of the Street. Can anyone help please?

So many young men from Deptford died and for many of those who returned life was scarred. I have several relatives from Deptford who died in the 1st World War. I try to honour them all by putting their stories on my tree
