Hi Damian,
I typed up a synopsis and accidentally deleted ::)

Anyhow Lot seems to have Martha Ann PHILLIPS.
His parents were WILLIAM and MARY
Mary was Williams second Wife and married under REES.His first was Anne.
Mary Rees appears to have been married before too, as there are a mix of Roberts/Rees children on 1851 Census.

What child of Lot/Martha are you descended from?

Trish :)

RETRIEVED IT :)

Lot was aged 75 when he died so born c 1850.
On the 1851 Census he is with his parents William and Mary and born Begelly, Pembrokeshire (Narbeth reg area).
He married Martha Ann PHILLIPS 4th qtr 1870
Mother Mary, born 1811 Begelly, appears on 1881/1891 Census with him and his Family.
Lot and Martha seem to have had about 11 children.
They lived in Carmarthenshire as well.

William Reynolds seems to have been married before and Mary is his second wife. His first was Ann according to 1841 Census.

Marriage;
William REYNOLDS
Mary REES
December 1848, Narberth, 26 955

On the 1851 Census there are a mix of Reynolds and Rees children.
But Lot born 1850 would be most likely be the child of William and Mary.

I could go on and on but need to know what you have.

Trish :)

hi there iam looking for any information on lot roberts
By my reckoning Lot Roberts was baptised at Reynoldston in 1850.

Llanteg is the modern name given to what we know as Crunwear or Crunwere, to date our local history society has produced 5 books on the village, with a sixth in production under the guidance of Ruth Roberts our Chair/Sec, a very deep well of knowledge on the area.
The website for your interest is
http://llanteghistorysociety.blogspot.com/

From my listing of the 1851 census for Crunwere there are no Roberts listed.
From my listing of the Grave and memorial inscriptions in the Parish of Crunwere there are no Roberts listed.
From my listing of all names places and relations in every will proven at the ECC of St David’s 1600 to 1858 there is no reference to the Roberts surname around the time of your interest. There are a few references in early 1700's and early 1600's.
From the 1841 census I note William Roberts at Church Land Reynoldston shown as aged 40 a Farmer with his wife Anne and 3 boys and 1 daughter all born in Cty.
This is the only Roberts family in the parish at this time.
Trust this is of assistance to you.

Hi Damian - just found this through Googling!

I'm the Ruth quoted above by Orielbenfro.
My ancestors are the same line as Lots wifes - Martha Ann Phillips (was a Phillips myself before marriage).
I'm also in contact with direct decendants of Lot and both they and myself have full trees on the Ancestry website.  They are descended from Thomas Roberts - son of Lot.

Hi Damian,
I've just seen your correspondence on Lot Roberts who is the brother of my gg grandfather Nathaniel Roberts. I have just started picking up the threads again on researching the Roberts family having not done much work on them for a few years. I thought another go may make some more progress and get over a few of the roadblocks.

Lot was 1 of 3 children to William Roberts and Mary Rees nee Dey(or Day) who was Williams 2nd wife. Mary had 2 children by her 1st husband Thomas Rees who she married at Begelly in 1837. The children were Ann and Martha.

William had 8 children by his wife Anne Jenkins who died in 1848 at Raynolton. They married in Jeffreston in 1827.

William was supposed to have come from Ireland but I have been unable to trace him back before his 1st marriage. Thomas Roberts was a witness at his first wedding and there are also a few vague references to his father being David Roberts. I plan to try and find out more info on these 3 men with this latest research.

Lots' brothers (from Mary) were Nathaniel(m. Ann Nicholas in 1870 and had 6 children) and James(m. Emma/Emily Williams in 1875 and had 13 children).

I have quite a lot of info on the Dey ancestors of Mary who farmed at Catershill, Begelly. The earliest is a James Dey who was born ~1750.

I am happy to exchange database with you to try and fill in some more gaps.
                           Regards

Roger
Have you considered the wills of the Dey family of early to late 18th Century of Llanstadwell and Steyton and have you made a link with the 1731 Dey mrge at Llandstadwell ?
