Gavaghans.1870-19... Wigan

Help needed to find out how and where John Gavaghan(Garraghan) met Martha
Emily Stephens(Stevens).
Emily was born in Berkshire. Have her  in the 1881 census missing in the 1891census , Wigan in the 1901 census.
Ideas where she could have been greatfully accepted.

Can you provide some more information please?  What year were John and Martha born and can you provide some more detail from the 1881 and 1901 census.? Occupations, parents names, anything that might help.

Think I've got the reference for 1901 - might help to find them in 1891  :-

32 Taylor Street, Wigan
John Garagham 29 mar labourer born Wigan, Lancs
Emily Garagham 27 mar born Woolstone, Berks
Emily Garagham 3 mar born Wells, Swindon
Class: RG13; Piece: 3556; Folio: 41; Page: 19.

Think there is more to his occupation than labourer but can't read the original.  It has collier crossed out then "below ? labourer".

Thanks  I have the 1901 census.
But in your post I have noticed that Emily (Junior) was born in Wells, maybe I need to search there for the Stephens /Gavaghan family.
Obviously they were there at some point?
 Emily Stephens was born in Woolstone ,Berks 1873.
Father, William born abt 1843 West Shefford,Berks, his occupation was a shepherd.
 Mother,Mary  A Stephens born abt 1850 Uffington,Berks.
They had a niece(Georgina Clark 11) staying with them in the 1881 census? 
I am really trying to find the whereabouts of Emily in 1891?When she pops up in 1901 census she is married with no occupation, Wife!

The 1901 occupation for John is "Collier Labourer". Then "Collier" has been crossed out, and over the top has been written "C" (shorthand for the Coal industry) "Below in a coal mine".
The Lancashire term for the job described is "Dataler". He would move and install pit props, move waste rock to fill old workings so that it need not be taken to the surface and any number of other jobs in a coal mine.

Emily M Stevens 19 general servant sgle born Wootton Green, Beds

Although having just checked the map for the birthplaces, Wantage is closer to Woolstone than Wootton Green is

Emily junior was born in Swindon, Wilts, but AFTER her mother's marriage to John.  Might Emily senior have "gone home to mother" for the birth?
