Can anyone help me decipher the corrected Surname in the 'Name and Address of Owner' column?
Thanks.

Hello, I think the name crossed out reads HUMPHREYVILLE and the corrected entry is UMFREVILLE.Seems like a spelling error.
The place name is Greenhithe.
Viktoria.

Hi,
Looks like 'UMFREVILLE' to me.
You corrected it just as I posted!

Thanks. Following that suggestion I found this gentleman in the 1881 census
UMPEVILLE, Samuel C Head Married M 60 1821 Justice Of Peace For Kent, living in Swanscombe (which is right next to Greenhithe) so I think we have our man.
