Hi Essie
That was a great find and I also found them in Ireland, so the witness on their marriage certificate could have been Maurices siblings and not our Richard's children. These are the ones I found on the IGI site.
Patrick Fitzgerald and Margaret Quinlan's children:-
Marino Fitzgerald 4 Feb 1864 Mitchelstown District Cork
Patrick Fitzgerald 28 Feb 1866 Mitchelstown district Cork
Garrett Fitzgerald 9 August 1868 Mitchelstown district Cork
Michael Fitzgerald 8 August 1871 Cork Ireland
A little different from those on the list who came on the Trevalyan, perhaps Marino changed his name to Morris as a Morris wasn't on the list.
I will have a look at the Trove and it wouldn't surprise me if a Fitzgerald was in trouble over in Northcote as another family member was involved with Squizzy Taylor in the 1900's in Daylesford
It is amazing the coincidence with the names, both families living so close and having a Richard, Morris, Garrett, Michael and Honora. I didn't have her on the list and she was the year of arrival, may have been born at sea.
Yes I think the Maurice in WA was attached to this family and our Morris died in 1884.
I still need to find if they were related and how???
Thanks for doing such great detective work, from now on we need to call you Sherlock

Cheers Merl
