Ellen and richards children are as follows

Garret, Michael, Hannah (Nora), Ellen, Richard, Annie, Catherine, Morris and of course Francis (Ellen jnr's son) apparently adopted by ellen and richard.

Incidentally we cannot find a Birth Certificate for Nora (my grandmother) and have been told that Hannah is probably Nora.

You should be able to identify Nora if she is Hannah, by her birthday.  Some mistranscribed surnames   I wonder if this  could be the problem with finding Morris/Maurice's death registration.  I can't find a birth reg for Michael.

Hi Cando

Have looked at the links for the Death Notices for Garrett and Michael and yes they are our family.

We knew about Garrett's but thanks for the one about Michael because the death that was listed on Ancestry had Michael as having died in Victoria which I knew was wrong as he lived in Victoria Park (W.A.) so we can correct that place and date of Death.

Regards Hannah (Nora) Unfortunately I do not know the exact date of Nora's birthday just that it was September.

As regards Michael we went into W.A. Genealogical Society last week and as you say could not find a Birth Certificate for him but I do know he existed as I met him and all his family.  As far as Morris is concerned we have a Birth Certificate for him and he was born in 1883 whereas Michael was about 1867.  Also Michael is listed on Ellen's Death Certificate as being 39 (2 years younger than Garrett who was born in 1865)  making Garrett 41 when his mother died.  Nora is listed as being 36.

Yes but we think this is Annie as we have not found a Birth Certificate for her and we know she existed but I had never heard of a Johanna.

Mary I have searched the SA births pretty thoroughly and can't see a birth for Michael or Annie.  Many Roman Catholics often failed to register the births of their children I think the explanation being that they considered the child's baptism sufficient registration and ignored the civil registration.    Hannah's birthday is in Sept so I would say it is your Nora.

Michael's birth in 1867 fits in well with a birth every two years for Ellen.

I would think that WAGS would only search the death indexes and possibly some cemetery records for Morris.  I do note that his name was Maurice on the electoral roll.

Was Richard Snr working away from home ie Wellington Mill in 1905?

Michael was buried at Dwellingup cemetery however only his wife Elizabeth and son are mentioned.  Perhaps his name was not inscribed on the headstone.

Would you please give the references/sources for this birth....or are you taking the information from an online tree.  I tend to treat online trees with a great deal of caution unlesss they are well referenced.
