There were three Martin Thorntons who came up in the original search. My link was the only one who was in RAMC.  His regimental number 38791 on his medal card is the same as the one in Gorton boys link to the London Gazette
I would be 100% sure that this was the man you seek.

thankyou,,, he was also awarded an Italian brozan medal,can i find out more about were these medal's are to be got.can you suggest were igo from here to learn more about his time in the army.......

where can i find out about the itilian medal he was awared, and find his service record's from 1914 -1918.he also appeared in the paper for his bravery to fellow solider's,,ie demanding new equipiment,,,this is getting very interesting ,to learn so much about my grandfather,thank's to all of your help,looking forward to finding out more;;;

The majority of foreign awards to British troops were made by the British Army. The allies shared a number of awards with other members of the Alliance for distibution. So it will be because he was awarded the DCM twice. rather than a specific third action.

If you go to page 5202 it says it was for the Bronze Medal for Military Valour - and you should also read page 5199. If you print off these three pages and staple them together they make a nice present for his descendants. Ditto with the DCM set.

i cannot send you a link for the first report as i got it from a subscription site.  his service records,if they survive will be on Ancestry,,,,but most were destroyed during bombing in ww2.

can any one help ; my grandad was awarded many medal's,and i would like to be able to collect them, and i don't know were to go to find them. pte martin thornton , 38791 ,served in France between 1914 -1918,R.A.M.C.  e.g.D.C.M. + bar,ITALIAN BRONZE , & RIBBON DIPLOMA..many more,?also can i get his full military record'sfor the time he spent in the r a m c .
