Llanbeblig MI's - Bracegirdle
« on: Wednesday 02 February 11 14:01 GMT (UK) »
Could some kind soul please look up the MI for Nehemiah Bracegirdle, buried in Llanbeblig cemetery on 19/03/1855. I'd expect him to be buried with his wife Ellin, date of burial 01/12/1856.

I've visited the cemetery a few times, but I'm afraid it's in a shocking state. I'd love to know the location of his grave.

Many thanks for your time,

Rob

Can't help with the Llanbeblig one but I have a photo of Nehemiah Bracegirdle at Glanadda, Bangor 1905, wife Margaret 1942, son Arthur 1902 and a David Charles 1960.
Related?

Hi Gwil,

Thanks for the reply. Yes indeed, I think he was the grandson of the Nehemiah Bracegirdle I'm looking for. He was also my great-grandmother's brother. I think I've got a picture of him with her.

Please PM me if you wish to correspond about this.

Many thanks,

Rob

Hi
There are still Bracegirdle's living in Caernarfon area. I suspect that they are the same family that moved into the Nantmor, Beddgelert area with a family of landed gentry  early or mid 1800s. I have an interest in Nantmor area and have come across the name many times in my research.

Emyr's suspicion is correct.

I carried out some work for a gentleman called Peter Bracegirdle a few years ago. Sadly, he passed away a couple of years ago so I don't know how far he had got with his research.

Nehemiah Bracegirdle was born in Knutsford, Cheshire around 1779-1782. He baptised a number of children in Beddgelert with first wife Mary before marrying his second wife, Elinor Williams, at Beddgelert, in 1820. The family later moved to Caernarfon.

Thanks for all replies. I've got about as far as I can with this relative, I'd just like to know whereabouts in the cemetery his grave is situated.

If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

Regards

Rob

I had a look at the MIs for Llanbeblig today, at the national library.
There are 8 volumes of them, the 8th being addenda , I think. I'm afraid I could not find a Nehemiah Breacegirdle (though there are a lot of other Bracegirdles) .
I did find a reference to a lady described as the wife of Nehemiah Bracegirdle. , at plot B 497 (Quite close to the church) . I rather short-sightedly forgot to write her name and the date down, I'm afraid. I seem to recall it being 1870. I wonder, in that case, whether it would be the wife of the son of the original Nehemiah.

Thank you so much for looking, Huwcyn.

Believe it or not, there were generation after generation of Nehemiah's in Caernarfon. So it's quite possible the lady in question was a daughter-in-law of the chap I'm after.

However, I'm a bit puzzled that you didn't find the original Nehemiah in the MI's. The Carnarvon Traders web-site definitely shows he was buried at Llanbeblig. I wondered what happened to his grave?

Thanks again, Rob

Hi there,  hope you don't mind me posting, my maiden name was Bracegirdle my father is Barry Bracegirdle. Grandfather Peter Ellis Bracegirdle.
My dad still lives in the Carnarfon area. Dad thinks that the Bracegirdle brothers (2of) came to the area from Yorkshire to the copper mines
All very fascinating
