Posting a photo from Photobucket. Complete
« on: Wednesday 02 February 11 11:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I have been trying to put a photo of a letter on the deciphering page. First it said it was too big. I managed to reduce it with irfanview but this made it too small to read. It was then suggested I put it in Photobucket and then post it . I have it in photobucket now but cant work out how to get it from there to the deciphering forum. I am really new to all this and am finding it very difficult to understand some of the terminology. Can anyone help me in really easy instructions?

I think the idea was probably to put it in Photobucket then put the link onto the RootsChat post

Open the picture in Photobucket
copy the address of the web page  (http://   or www.  )
then paste this (using Ctrl-V) into the original post on RC

NB RC will complain if you try to right click, then select Paste

Come back if you're still having problems   :)

Thank you for your reply.   I am so dumb!  I still can't do it.  I go to photobucket and underneath the photo a box appears with:Share edit delete move. Under this there are little boxes they say: email http://1102photobucket.com/albums.  under this: Direct link http ect. under that: HTMLcode <a hnet=http//siio2 and finally under this: IMG code img http://1102
I can click on any of these and it says coppied. Am I anywhere near what I am supposed to be doing? If so can you guide me please.

I have tried the direct link approach. It said copied.
This means it has copied to the clipboard on my computer.
Now I paste into this post.
Hopefully you should see a picture of a cat, when you click on the link.

The webpage address is at the top of the page,  starting http:/ etc etc .   right click and copy.   come to rootschat, and paste or ctrl V whichever works.

Karen, you are not dumb at all.  I struggled for ages with photobucket, avatars etc.  You say that you have got as far as it saying copied on photobucket.  What I then do is go back to the forum and the message section where I want to put the picture and right click mouse and then left click paste.  This should then put the link in (I cannot usually see the picture itself unless I go into preview, but it should appear once it has been posted).  Good luck

I think the problem is that there are a number of different codes given under the photo, and kerren is unsure which is the correct one to copy and then paste into Rootschat??

under the picture click IMAGE CODE and this should come up with copied. Then you can go into where you want to put the picture and paste it.

under the picture click IMAGE CODE and this should come up with copied. Then you can go into where you want to put the picture and paste it.

It says IMG Code, when you click it, it will say copied, then where every you want to post it just click the right button on your computer mouse or the right button on your laptop and select 'paste'.
