Gallacher and Grey

I am trying to track down the marriage certificate for Micheal Gallacher and Elizabeth Gallacher (nee Grey) in Edinburgh 29th December 1923, but i cant seem to track it - any help much appreciated.  I do know they were living in Hawick in1929. Thanks to all in advance x x

Dear Moderator, I will pick this one for my reply.

Now the 29th December 1923 is very near the end of the year so it is registered in 1924 January 3rd.   Michael was aged 27 and his usual residence was 20 Hayfield Street Glasgow (Parents James Gallacher, Boiler Fireman)/Catherine O'Donnell (deceased) whereas Elizabeth Gray  a 23 year old spinster usually lived at 1 Weensland Terrace in Hawick (Parent Helen Scott Gray).  This marriage was by declaration in presence of Daniel Gallacher, no doubt the groom's brother and Isabella Findlay of the same address in Hawick.

A little bit of additional information for you.  Helen Scott Gray the mother of the bride was a Yarn Spinning Mill worker and she died on the 5th June 1948 aged 86 at 3 Weensland Terrace Hawick.  Her parents were Frank Gray who also worked in the Yarn Spinning Mill and Helen Scott.   The death was advised by her son-in-law Michael Gallacher of Rosebank Road, Hawick.

The foundations of a large stumbling block as there appears to be no obvious birth for her but a possible is a Helen Gray Scott in 1861.      The ball is now firmly in your hands.
