Burnley Childrens/Babies Home Births. Help?
« on: Sunday 30 January 11 18:03 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for the birth of someone who was born in a Babies or Children's home in Burnley on 29 Sep 1944.

Does anyone know of any such homes that existed during that time? I believe the mother was sent there to have her child and they stayed there for a few months.

I really hope someone can help me. If you know the names of any of the homes or if records of births may have survived please let me know.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,

The organisation After Adoption is a good place to start.  I found them to be very helpful.  0800 0 568 578  This is their helpline number.

If you are looking for someone who was adopted or for birth family, there is a good website where you can post enquiries.  It's not official but I believe it to be quite good:http://www.missing-you.net/

Good luck and best wishes.

Ann
