PAGE family of Hughenden
« on: Saturday 29 January 11 07:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Does anyone know if there is a link between the PAGE family in Hughenden and the PAGE family of Coleshill near Amersham.   Circa 1600s to about 1730.  And, if so what is the link?

Thank you.

There are quite a few marriages for Page (of Agmondesham(Amersham) Bucks) in Hughenden PR's.

The earliest I can find is for Gulielmous Page to Martha Hornblow -  5 Jan 1668. No place of birth/residence given

The next marriage reference to Amersham(Agmondesham) is Joseph Page to Elizabeth Stevens - 2 Sep 1768.  Both from Amersham.

Hi

Thank you.  I'm an Aussie so am not familiar with the Hughenden PRs?  Is this a church register?  I'm hoping it is.   If so can you give me the name of the church please?

The earliest I can find is for Gulielmous Page to Martha Hornblow -  5 Jan 1668. No place of birth/residence  given.
Is William another name for Gulielmous?   This marriage is registered on the IGI site as William in which case someone has made a translation.

Thank you very much for your assistance.  Kind regards Ann

Hi Ann.

Yes, they are the parish registers for St.Michael & All Angels Church, Hughenden.

From Buckinghamshire Family History Society.

Gulielmus does translate to William.

Thanks.  Most useful.  Is Gulielmous a Roman name?    What is the origin?  Do you know?

Hi

Following up on your previous message which I've just read again.

There are quite a few marriages for Page (of Agmondesham(Amersham) Bucks) in Hughenden PR's.
I wonder why

I think it would be most useful to get this CD as I could be barking up the wrong tree.  I better have a look at the BFHS and see if I can join and buy the CD.      I was given the one for Amersham (St Marys) as a present but for the early dates nothing fits.  So perhaps I might get more information from the St Michaels CD.

These Pages are driving me nuts.  And they are all either William or John.   Each generation seems to have sons name William and John (which means there could be cousins with the same name in the same generation).

Hi

Thanks for your help.  Have ordered the CD.   You probably didn't realise it but by saying there were quite a few listings for Amersham in the Hughenden register, it may help me no end.   There's a number of registrations that are not listed in the Amersham CD.

Cheers
