How do I go about searching if they had any children??  They married in Canada in 1923 I have their marriage details and they lived on a farm??  I am trying to trace any people related to them, expecially if they had children??  :)

Canada does not have a central register for BMD as it is a provincial jurisdiction. I see that the couple married in British Columbia. If that is where they stayed then you won't be able to access birth information on children as BC privacy laws protect births from less than 120 years ago. Marriage records up to 1934 are currently accessable at the BC Archives.

The LDS Search site has transcriptions of BC deaths up to 1986 (https://www.familysearch.org/) although doing a quick search I didn't see any entries that might be their children.

If the family left BC and settled elsewhere, most provinces have privacy laws which protect births from less than 100 years ago.

Your best bet may be checking newspapers in the area where they lived for BMD announcements.

Here is the link to a previous thread on Margaret Caldwell.
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,502461.0.html

On the marriage registration that I looked up, Johan gave his residence as Daysland, Alberta.  I suspect they returned to the farm in that location....he had been farming there since at least the 1906 Census.

Perhaps, a local history book would give some more information if one can be found.

I found a local history book for that area.

I didn't search to see if there were any entries for Malkan.

A search of the surname Malkan in the Alberta Genealogical Society, Index of Alberta Homestead Records, turns up a record for John Gustaf Malkan.  The file would have to be viewed at the Archives or a copy can be ordered for a fee.  The information may just pertain to his land acquisition when he first emigrated and started farming in the Daysland area.

A Rootschatter named CeBe recently posted that he/she would be willing to do look-ups at the Archives.

I found an ad in a United Farmers of Alberta publication dated January 2, 1933, for turkeys for sale with Mrs. G. Malkan, Daysland, Alberta named as the contact.

There is an entry for a G. Malkan, Farmer on the 1948 Rural Electoral list for Daysland in the Camrose area.

You might want to try contacting the Camrose branch of the Alberta Genealogical Society to see if they have any information on this family.  They may have cemetery records for the area, etc.

The post by Susano on the local history book, the only reference to Malkan is on page 318.

www.canada411.ca
is an on-line telephone directory and there is only one Malkan listed for Alberta so may be worth following up on.
