John McMaster of Armadale, after 1905??
« on: Friday 28 January 11 20:45 GMT (UK) »
Any information on John McMaster who lived in Etna Cottages Armadale with wife Annie Guthrie, from c 1905 onwards?  I understand he was a shop owner of some kind.  Sons were Robert McMaster, 1905, my grandfather, William McMaster, son (after 1905) and Clara McMaster (1918).

Thx, Kathy :)

John McMaster is buried in the Glasgow Road Cemetery in Bathgate.  He is in Section V Lair 250, of which he was the owner and he probably purchased it in 1914.

Here is a record of those buried in the Lair - as transcribed from the Burial Register by West Lothian Family History Society.

There is a William McMaster aged 61yrs buried in Fauldhouse in 1966, could he be yours too?

Hope this helps.

What great information, Tom.  Yes these are my relatives.  William McMaster, yes he is the son of John McMaster.  Now I can go leave a flower for them at their grave.  Wonder who the ladies were - wives of other McMasters perhaps??

Thx so much Tom :)

John McMaster, born 27th April, 1871 in Belfast is the son of Thomas McMaster, DOB 1847 died 25th February, 1920 and Sarah McMaster (nee Quirey) DOB 1848 died 28th September, 1909. John McMaster was one of ten children, one of whom was my grandmother, Mary Mcmaster.
John McMaster was married twice, his first wife having died.
His second wife was Annie Guthrie
I have further information and would appreciate any information on John's relatives in Scotland.
