Glass photograph

"what you have here is an Ambrotype,first introduced in 1851 & was the norm up until 1859/60 & could still be seen into the early 60's"

This has been scanned at 600dpi and I wondered if anyone could do anything with it.

There is a small part missing although I have some fragments of the glass, the missing part does not really amount to much. The other topic shows this missing part.

Been watching this thread with interest, Peter, you have some great restores.

Because the photo is so dark, I had a little play with the brightness and contrast in my photo editor. It was surprisingly tricky! You lighten it up "just a little more" and suddenly, it's completely washed out and you lose the younger boy

I would like to thank everybody who has managed to restore this very old photograph I have. I now have the task of trying to find out who they are.

There are some really superb restores here and I feel very fortunate and so thank you all again.
