Hi Sancti,

I'm interested in any Hendersons.  My GGG Grandmother died there in 1901, Jane Henderson nee McDiarmid/McDermont.

Other Hendersons I'm interested in are her husband William, and any of the children -

      Helen Henderson
          1862 – 1891
      Agnes Henderson
          1863 –
Robert Henderson or his wife Alice nee Smith
          1865 –
      Jane Henderson
          1869 –
      Ann Henderson
          1871 –
     William Henderson
          1877 –
     James Henderson
          1880 –
      John Henderson
          1883 –
      Margaret Maggie Henderson
          1884 –

I'm also interested in cemeteries in Lesmahagow.  Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction?  I'm in Australia and it can get frustrating trying to search from afar, particularly when I don't know these places at all!

Thanks,
Paislie

Hello Sancti,

I came across your posting for the MIs in the Hamilton Kirkyard. I have just discovered an ancestor buried there and noticed his name on your posting. I didn't know there was a stone for him. He is called "John Morris" and it is the only Morris grave in the cemetery. Do you have a photo of that grave or further information about the inscription on it? Any info would be much appreciated! I live in the Western Isles, far away from Hamilton, so I'm not going to get to see the grave myself any time in the near future...

Yours,

Ross

It is a slab type headstone and it is not the clearest of pictures but it is for John Morris and the date could be 1807

Send your email by personal message and I will forward the picture

Thanks!

A John Morris died in 1856 and was buried in Hamilton Churchyard according to the SRIs. His father, another John Morris and my ancestor, died sometime after 1841 having appeared in the Census for that year. So the date on the stone may be 1847 if it's not the John who died in 1856. I haven't enough posts yet to send you a PM - I only joined yesterday, so I need to send a few more messages...

I look  forward to seeing the photo.

Yours,

Ross.
