Hi Mo, all I could find was Janet Bryson, spouse of James Bell, baker.
No Hutton with a Bryson spouse. There were a few Scessionist churches in Hamilton, any other surviving records will be at the National Archives in Edinburgh. (I think it may be called something else now?).

Thank you for looking.  Janet Bryson and James Bell I'll have to check out - they're not ringing any bells (ha ha  )

Those missing Hamilton baptisms and marriages are driving me bananas, so thanks for the tip about the Scessionist churches.

These dates may be newer than the cemetery.  Don't know if it's still in use.  I see you have Steel on the list and am hoping I'm fishing in the right stream.

Would like to know where my great-grandmother is buried.  Here are the facts as I know them:

Margaret Steele (ms Barclay) Thomson
b. ca. 1851 in Hamilton to William Barclay and Margaret Steele
m. John Thomson on 21 March 1877 in Cambusnethan.
d.  23 January 1904, age 52 at Calderwood Castle, East Kilbride.

At the time of her death her husband was Head Gardener/Estate Manager at Calderwood Castle.  John Thomson subsequently remarried and he, new wife, and all 4 of Margaret's daughters emigrated to the USA.  She would be buried either all by herself or perhaps with her parents.  I haven't found anything in the Dalserf MI's although her husband's family (Sandilands/Barr/Thomson) are there.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated,

Hi Sancti.

Wonder if you`ve come across any stones with the names Naismith and Weir. Either in the Old Parish or Bent cemetaries? These people lived in Hamilton in the 1800`s.

saw your names Naismith and Weir. My ggg grandfather William Smellie Frame married an Agnes or Ann Weir in Nov. 1850 in Hamilton.  She must have been very well loved by her step children as they gave her name to their children. She died in Glasgow Feb 1895. She was the daughter of Basil Weir.  I think there are photos of gravestones with the name Weir from Bent Cemetery on the Lanarkshire families & histories website. It is a good site where we can upload photos and attachements of records. You may like to take a look at the large collection of photos.
