1911 Look up Oldham Lancashire
« on: Monday 24 January 11 20:02 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping to trace Martha Copley (nee Sweeting) in 1911.
In 1901 I found her aged 34  living with a child visitor Emma Sweeting.Head of household was Samuel Healey in Oldham Lancashire. The 1911 Census might help determine who were parents of the infant.Martha died 1919.
Help appreciated.

I'm sorry but 1911 census requests are not allowed - please see here:

The index is free to search and there are lots of suggestions on this thread:

Hello,

1911 census lookups aren't allowed. You can look yourself in the indexes though.

Emma Sweeting's birth registration is on Lancashire BMD - Wigan and Leigh which doesn't give mother's maiden name. If she had been born in Oldham, the name would have been shown  ::)

Possible marriage:
(Note: there are only 2 birth registrations for Emma Sweeting, that would fit her age for this marriage. One in Wigan and the other in Newcastle)

Married by Banns by Gerard Whitehead (Vicar) on 3 May 1924 at All Saints, Oldham, Lancashire
Arthur Laithwaite, aged 24, Cotten Operative, Bachelor of 16 Trafalgar St, Oldham - Father: Thomas Laithwaite, Labourer
Emma Sweeting, aged 23, Calico Weaver, Spinster of No. 1 Court No. 4 off Ripponden Rd, Oldham - Father: Fred Sweeting, Moulder
Witnesses: Charles William Simmonds, Elizabeth Swallow, John Haigh Tetlow

she was living there in 1901 - now... who is Fred?

There is a death in 1901 in Wigan of a Sophia Sweeting :-\

Looks as though Fred may remarry in 1907

So it looks as though Martha is bringing up her niece, Emma.

Quite possible as both the 1897 and 1907 marriages were at St James, Oldham.

Note: Second marriage was to Alice Beswick (AKA Alice Daubney)
(Alice is probably a widow with a maiden name of Daubney)
