crewkerne is one of the places in Somerset, which has almost complete BDMs

Agreed. The OPC system is a great resource. I've found the Crewkerne section very useful. More's the pity that the Merry's (leaders of the Crewkerne bit) have gone AWOL.

I don't think that the people mentioned in this Churchill story returned to the UK, although I've no way of telling. My assumption is that they and their descendants live in Canada or the USA. No one has come forward with their deaths yet but I live in hopes.

Hi Benzol
I am a new member to RootsChat. I have been building my family tree for many years with the help of many collaborators. I have extensive records of the Churchill family from Crewkerne, Somerset. I discovered Rootschat through a web search that showed up a series of posts regarding John Churchill who emigrated to Philadelphia in the 19th Century. Lucy Churchill survived and I am currently in touch with her grandson.
