May I ask, as in the Benbecula entry, at what date?

In 1861, Gerinish was still a farm, in the hands of Alexander Chisholm with a multitude of servants. There were only two other separate households, one headed by John MacEachin and the other Donald Campbell in the Grieve's House.

By 1871 not much had changed. Gerinish was still a single farm rather than a crofter Township. Alexander Chisholm aged 79 was the farmer. John MacEachen 70 was still a herd in a separate household. Niel MacInnes 33 was an ag lab as was Michael Morrison 46, each heading a household and Donald MacInnes 30 was the farn Grieve, presumably where donald Campbell had been previously.

Bar moving on a decade, much the same familes were still in Gerish in 1881. Heads: Mary Chisholm 79 Gerinish House; D McInnes 39; Niel MacLennan 38; Catherine MacEachan 75.
