Dinneen - Cheltenham St. Greg. 1853
« on: Sunday 23 January 11 12:06 GMT (UK) »
Could someone please do a check on a baptism / christening for me.

I am looking for David Edward Dinneen and have a reference to a baptism on 18 Aug 1853 at St Gregory's RC Chapel. (I also have the birth as 9th Aug 1853). I have no idea where this information came from or if it is accurate. The parents I have are George Dinneen and Ellen Ring.

The chapel was replaced in 1854 by todays church.

I am particularly interested in the spelling of Dinneen on the record as I cannot find any registration of birth.

'Sandfie',
Yes, the baptism reference is (mostly) correct:

18 Aug. 1853 David s. of George & Ellen Denane, born 9 Aug. 1853.

Only 'David', not 'David Edward'.
Out of curiosity, I also looked in FreeBMD for him. No record of the registration of any Davids with remotely similar surnames in Cheltenham or even Gloucestershire.
Could they have been just passing through, or visiting, and registered him somewhere completely different?

Thankyou for your help.

THanks also for checking for the birth record, but unfortunately it seems that the parents didn't register the births of any of their children - none of them can be found in bmd registers - that is why the baptism records are so important to me.

Thanks again for this check.
Stewart.
