  I am new on this site was wondering if anyone could help please on my mothers side.
Her name is
               Frances Green nee walker she married Matthias Green

             Her mother was called Sarah Ann last name not known,also no nothing of her father.

                         Frances would have been about 95
                       I know of my fathers side but no nothing of my mothers side.
              Any thing no matter how small will be appreciate.

You can order a copy of their marriage certificate online at www.gro.gov.uk I think that the current price of a certificate is £9.50

The certificate should give you the name of Frances' father and also her age at the time of her marriage which should then assist you in searching for her birth.

I have found the registration of the birth of a Frances Walker which was registered in Barnsley in 1917.

It might be best to order the marriage certificate first and see whether Frances' fathers name is recorded on the certificate and whether her age at her marriage indicates that she was born in 1917 before ordering the birth certificate. 

I do not know at this point whether you know if she was born in Barnsley or whether it is a coincidence that Frances' marriage took place in Barnsley and that there is the registration of the birth of a Frances Walker close to the time she may have been born (hope that makes sense.)

We are not sure ourselves she was born in barnsley,but we seem to think she was.
We are going into barnsley town tomorrow and i can get the marrage certificate there and then.

Been into town and ordered the marrage certificate,could not get it today as they are in different premises awaiting the town hall being refurbished,be ready tomorrow after 10.They said she was married in the town hall in barnsley,will let you know the outcome tomorrow

 Bad news i'm afraid does not give fathers name.She got married 6th may 1939 aged 22yrs.She lived at 99 Harold ave Lundwood Barnsley.Her husband Matthias green lived at 68 Harold ave Lundwood Barnsley.Must have took mothers name,mother was called Sarah Ann Walker.

  It says Frances was a general domestic servant.

 Any suggestions or is it a dead end now
