Hi there Mooney,

I know its a long while since you posted this request, I have only been on this site for a fortnight.

If you let us know your ggranddads name, christian and surname I will try and find him.

Cheers Roger.

Hi there Mooney,

Just acknowledging your reply, I will have a detailed look tomorrow as I have to go out and fetch the wife back from the theatre.

Cheers Roger.

have had a look in service/pension records for him and he,s not in those i also used the variants search ie pryce and still nothing as eng and ireland was all one armed force back then if he,s not in pension records there won,t be any other service records to find as all soldiers records were destroyed approx 20 yrs after leaving the army .
hope this helps

hi know he was enrolled to serve in the kilkenny fusiliers in march 1855ish then in september 1885 ish was released on condition he enlisted in the 88th regiement he was entered in the enrolment book of kilkenny fusiliers
have a copy of his obituary he died in england in 1901 at time of death he was a barrack sergeant
states on obituary he served in india .know he had a daughter who was born in hamilton scotland in the cavelry barracks
he sounds like he travelled about a fair bit i have a copy of the church record of his baptisem in 1835 in mothell
his father was in the military but have no idea whitch regiement
know Joseph enlisted in limerick but no idea of the regiement he enlisted in
i always wondered if he followed his father into service in the same regiement
have no info to prove this just a whim i thought sounded plausable
as info is very scetchy at this time i have no high hopes of getting any more info
but i would like to say thanks very much for you time
regards Mareith

evening mareith
the 88th was an infantry regt but he  was transferred to the 90th another infantry regt hence why i didn,t find him plus what you have for birth place is different to his pension record  and yes i,ve found him and he had quite a service time ,as it,s getting late i,ll write it all out tomorrow for you .
bye for now
