McBride - Birth records where do I start looking?
« on: Saturday 22 January 11 12:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi

looking for any information on Ann McBride born about 1811 (1851 census born Donegal Ireland)married Samuel Burge in London and Mary McBride born about 1809 married Charles James Bryer in London 1826. Marriage of Charles and Mary was signed by a Hugh McBride (could be brother or father?)
Can anyone tell me where to start looking or give me any information on Mary especially.
many thanks

To find Irish ancestors for such an early period you need to see if church records exist.
Have a look at Introduction to Irish Records and My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start?.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I am a McBride by birth. My father and his father came from Ballintra, Co Donegal. Both my grandfather and great grandfather's names were Hugh. Just wondering if it's the same McBride's you are looking for?  :)

Hi there, My Grandfather Hugh McBride was born in Ballintra 17th March 1869 Married Annabella Finch on 28th June 1900. He died 20th September  1939 and is buried in a family grave in St Anne's Churchyard, Ballyshannon.

His parents  (my great grandparents) were Hugh McBride born c1835 Ballintra. Married Catherine Elliott (born c 1841) on the 19th Sept 1860 in Ballyshannon. She died 6th June 1926.

My great great grandfather - he was also a Hugh McBride born c1810 - I haven't been able to get any more info on him or his wife - I think her name may have been Mary - that's an ongoing investigation.

Hope this is helpful to you  :)
