]I've stumbled across this site and hope you can help me in my search.

I have the name of my 3rd g grandfather as Henry Hunniball b. 1805 Stepney, London but I cant find anything about his parents. I've tried all the usual places to no avail. He married Charlotte Gage in 1829, St Dunstan, Stepney.

Anyone got any ideas  ??? [/color]

Hello and welcome,

If you've checked in the most likely places I would suggest perhaps consulting the Parish Records which can be ordered and viewed in many Family History Centres around the country, this link provides a list to find the one nearest you: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp

I'm wondering where you got the information from?  If you're not sure of the church/parish it might be a big job.  As he married at St Dunstan, Stepney that might be a place to start?

Good luck
Jonathan

Hi Er and Welcome !!

I could not find the birth of Henry HUNNIBALL, but found this marriage on the IGI

Henry HANNIBALL married
Charlotte GAGE
2 March 1829,
St. Dunstan, Stepney, London

 :D :D :D

Because he was married before Civil Registration began in 1837, I'm afraid you will have to do as Jonathan suggests and look up the Church Records of St. Dunstan's.

Hi Kelly,

Yes I do have Gage in my tree, as you see on my webpage.
William Gage b. 1805 in Bloomsbury married Mary Broderick.
They had the following children: William, Jane, Charlotte, so there is a Charlotte connection but not at the right time-frame.
I'm not too sure about William's parentage but I guess they could be connected with yours, perhaps siblings?

I have been thinking that William Gage, baptised 1805 at Marylebone may be 'mine', in which case there is a Charlotte Margaret Gage baptised 1799 to the same parents ... a bit of conjecture at the moment though.

do you know where Charlotte was born/baptised?  have you found her on any census?

Though I'm happy to chat my PM - it's generally best to post on the boards I think, you just never know who else might see it and be connected  :D

I am a web designer so my tree website is done from scratch.  I didn't like the commercial products on offer so did it myself.

If I find out any more on the Gage family I'll let you know.

Jonathan

Thank you for getting back to me. I have found a Charlotte Margaret Gage on a census (having trouble remembering which one now though!) She was born 15 Feb 1799 and Christened in St Mary, St Marylebone Road, Saint Marylebone, London

So am I right in thinking my Charlotte could be sister to your William??

Hello,

Well it's a possibility and I'm happy to find connections that's for sure  :D  However, my William Gage's birth has yet to be verified.  This is what I know so far on him ...

William Gage m Mary Broderick 7 Jan 1833 Spitalfields.  I haven't had a chance to go and look at the actual PR yet which may yield some extra info.  But have the birth cert of William his son.

I have also found William and Mary on the 1861 and 1851 censuses.  William's birthplace is noted as Bloomsbury.

The IGI entry for a William Gage b. 14 Feb 1805 Saint Marys, Marylebone fits perfectly with his age on the census howeve i have yet to verify this.  However, the IGI does show what appears to be a sister, Charlotte Margaret b. 1799.

Be interested to know where you found Charlotte Margaret on a census when you rememeber!  Have you looked at the actual registry entry for Henry and Charlotte's marriage?  Might give some clue.

Regards
Jonathan

Hi Kelly,

I thought you said you'd found her on a census which would have been useful to establish birthplaces/ages. If you have some identifying information (ages, birthplaces/offspring), you could put a fresh post in the London Lookup Request board including all the info you have about this couple.

The only thing I can suggest regarding the marriage you've found is to check the actual Parish Register as previously noted.

If I make any progress on William Gage, I'll let you know.

Best of luck
Jonathan
