I was having doubts about this being him, but the man Jessie appears with on later electoral rolls is Henry Charles HOWE - could they be Jess and Henry?

Mick is buried as Mihail DIMITRIPONLOUS - a good try I guess!

Debra,

I see in the Cairns Post for 30th June 1944 a Jessie Arelose Poulos was charged with asault, this would have been Michael's wife, it seems that Poulos was commonly substituted for Poulas.

It might be him but the murder was supposed to have happened in 1934/35.

Some info for ozcornman to consider.

Gerry the 1934/35 death date given does coincide with the second time that Jessie's child was placed into care and then adopted, so I wonder if the story hasn't become a little confused over time (as they do), with the two events being presumed to have happened at the same time.  My vote is that this is the correct person, and his death cert might provide evidence of his marriage.

Excellent find, by the way!

Thank you, thank you  one and all and please excuse my absence from the forum, but I'm in Brisbane and been preoccupied lately with stuff called H2O...too much H2O. I think every one knows I'm referring to the catastrophic floods we have just experienced. I survived the 1974 lot in another location, and had a few anxious days recently, when the water levels came up.  I'm ok,but my friend on whose behalf I started this post was possibly going to go under, but he's safe and well. He had water lapping at his property in the 1974 flood and this time was saved by subsequent development around his place and maybe the big Wivenhoe Dam???

My friend has been looking for the details of Michael P ( How many names can you have? This guy was Heckel & Jekyll on steroids!!!) for some years and knew of his demise ,but was not certain of the date,so we apologise for making the task difficult for everybody from the start. And the variations in surname made it interesting too!

So thank you again Sue,Gerry,Cando,Dawn M. and Debra for your wonderful assistance. As they say in the classics...."If its on Roots Chat..it works!"

Debra
My friend would like to correspond with you regarding Jessie,to whom he is related. He is open to exchange info, but he is computer-less,so if you PM me, we can work out how that can happen.

Thank you again

Hi Ozcornman,

I don't have much more than already posted, but a few more details:

Electoral Roll
1943

Jessie Arclisse PAULOS
Feluga Road
Tully
Home Duties

Electoral Roll
1949

Jessie Arclissi PAULOS
Argent Hotel
Mt Isa

(Henry Charles HOWE is also listed at the Argent Hotel, a miner)

Electoral Roll
1954

Henry Charles HOWE, Labourer
Jessie Arclisse HOWE, Home Duties
145 Sheridan Street
Cairns

Qld Death

Jessie Arkles HOWE

1959/C3386
No father named
Mother:  Madeline Maria Wyatt ** then Wilson

Burial

Jessie Arclisse HOWE

Aged    48
Buried  5/09/1959
Martyn Street Cemetery
Cairns

Section:    Monumental (MON)
Row:    A6
Plot #:    8110
Area:    Bottom Middle Side (BMS)

Unfortunately the dates fall outside the range of indexes, so it is unknown whether Jessie and Henry were actually married.  I think Jessie's death certificate would be worth having a look at if you don't already have it, especially to find details of children.

Glad to hear you got through the big wet ok.

Debra  :)

Hi Debra

My friend's Grandmother is Jessie's Sister and he wonders are you related to Auntie Phyllis who married Uncle Wally MORGAN?

Thanks
