Best Online and Offline Family Tree Maker?
« on: Wednesday 19 January 11 23:42 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for some software that could combine a photo-intensive family tree with an autobiography.

Can anyone recommend a good and flexible Family Tree Maker that permits unlimited photos, notes, and unlimited biographical text for each family member...that can ALSO be uploaded to a personal website (using one's own domain)?  Ideally, it could be updated online.

What offline computer-based Family Tree Maker would you recommend?

Something like this perhaps.

I would reccomend rootsmagic not cheap but does all you require.  Yorkshire Ancestors sell it and a search on google should help you locate them if the mods decide that the link below is not acceptable

I would strongly recommend Brother's Keeper. I have used it for several years. It is not expensive at around $25. But it is extremely comprehensive. I believe it can do most, if not all, that you want it to do.
Find it here: http://www.bkwin.com or http://www.bkwin.net

The all-important backup support from the author John Steed is no less than superb. He usually responds within 24 hours if you have a problem using the program. You could also try-before-you-buy and confirm with the author that the program will do what you need.
