Karen,

There were only 4 households in Portlaois (Maryboro’) with DOLLARDs in the 1911 census. Only 2 of them had Kates, one aged 2 the other 24. The 24 year old was a married woman so that really just leaves the one with the 2 year old, in Portleix Rd. However it was a private house, not a shop. Perhaps it fits the information you have?

If you look at this page from 1911 census you'll see that there was a shop at #8 (Dollards were at #9). However, there were small shops in vallages and throughout the countryside and they often moved to different locations (or the Dollards could have moved house at a later date).

Hi Karen,
I'm a Portlaoise man, 'born and reared' and my uncle is 91 years and still going strong, but neither of us, and others, remembers a Dollard Shop in Portlaoise.
Around the time frame you sat, 1920's there were three 'little' shops in Portlaoise,
Daltons, Rogers and Donnelly of Coote St.

Checking my records for Portlaoise cemetery, 1897-1990 the first DULLARD burial is in 1906, Mary (50)
1917; Dullard Patrick (62)
1932; Dullard John (40)
1961; Dollard Sarah (30)
1963; Dullard Catherine; (75)
1977; Dollard Andrew; (78)
1983; Dollard Mary; (87)
1990; Dollard Annie; (96)
1990; Dollard John; (66)

You do not say the name of your grandfather and we might be able to assist with that.

Regards,
Jack

Hi Karyn,
My name is Kevin Bryan and I have been trying to find out weather my family is or is not related to Thomas Bryan. My cousins claim that Thomas Bryan was my grandfather's brother / step brother. My information is limited but maybe between us we could find out? Are you definitely related to Thomas? And if so, how?
Hope you get this!
Regards,
Kevin
