Census look up,DAVID SILCOCK
« on: Monday 17 January 11 10:30 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I am now trying to find the descendants of

DAVID SILCOCK born1871 in KENYON or GLAZEBURY. his parents Nathan & Ann (nee Hindley).

I hope they show in the  census so i can try to work out if if there are still any living family of his who may have info on him or his brother (James b1866) who is my great grandfather .

Any help much appreciated.

Martin.

Do you have your David in the 1881 census?  The one I find in Lancashire is not born in those places, however his father has the correct name.

Following from what MaryA has posted I noticed his birthplace was Culceth on the 1881 and Glazebury after that. On 1901 RG13 3591 10 11 with wife Anne 26 born Holywell Flintshire, son Alan 3 born Glazebury and mother in law Emma Gabriel 64 also Holywell.

The marriage of David Silcock/Ann Gabriel is on FreeBMD as Leigh 8c 287 Mar 1896.
Son Alan's birth Leigh 8c 276 Sept 1897

Marriage was at All Saints Glazebury (from CheshireBMD) - Glazebury was Lancashire, but is now Cheshire.

Using the 1911 census index suggests the same household as in 1901, so perhaps no more children.

You may already have the 1871 census but it does throw the name Nelson into the mix with another relationship for Jane.

Culcheth, Lancashire
All born Culcheth except where stated
Nathan Silcock Head M 29 Railway Labourer
Ann Wife M 26 Cotton Weaver
Elizabeth A daur 7 Scholar
James son 5 "
Jane daur 4
Jane Nelson Niece 6 Scholar Manchester
Mary Hindley Mother in Law W 73
RG10; Piece:  3912; Folio:  118; Page:  18

Bet Jane Nelson is Jane Jenny ......

Well I would have transcribed the name as Irving, despite Ancestry believing it was "Jenny" but the name is also in the marriage indexes as Jenny so it must be correct.

Jane Nelson married Arthur Jenny Q1 1891  Leigh  8c 335

Assuming Alan stayed in the same area there is a marriage to Lily Maud Hurst at St Peter Westleigh, Leigh 8c 520 Jun 1925. I can't see any likely births from that marriage on FreeBMD (and in any case couldn't post the details on here as they may be alive). Looking at LancashireBMD Lily Maud died in 1928 (Leigh 8c 428 June 1928 age 36).
After that there is a possible second marriage in the Barton upon Irwell district in Dec qtr 1933 8c 1161 to Elizabeth A Brown at St Paul Walkden. If you check that combination of names on FreeBMD there are births - including two in the Leigh reg. district which may indicate that this is the same Alan.

I haven't checked the IGI or new Familysearch sites for any other data. You would need certificates to substantiate (or otherwise) the details, but it seems possible there are descendants from this line.
