I just joined this group today after googling SIEMIATYCZE where my great grandparents are from. Would like to hear from others about any research that can be done i.e. finding old records. There were quite a few postings in 2009  but it is taking me a while to master this group and how to communicate. Hope to hear from others. SIEMIATYCZE was in Poland and JRI Poland has been of great help

Hello Kayelinda,

Welcome to RootsChat.

As you know I had been helping Mark a while ago with his Hart ancestors from Siemiatycze.

The chances of progressing do not look good. According to the Routes to Roots Foundation http://www.rootschat.com/links/0bds/, very few documents from the community have survived. The following are held at the Polish State Archives in Bialystok:
• Kahal / Community records (1861)
• Holocaust Records (1942-43)
• Polish Alijah Passports to Palestine (1929-1939)

Have the experts at JRI-Poland discovered any further records?

Rgds,
Justin
