Hi,
Could some kind person please try to find a passenger entry on a ship from UK to New York probably around 1861 or a return journey around 1865/6. I have identified a few G Gardiner's on Amcestry but do not have the type of subscription that allows me access to American records.
I am searching information on a GARDINER/GARDENER, either William or George. They were called Gardener pre 1851 ish and seem to change to Gardiner after, so either name may be used.
I have a photograph of an ancestor dressed in the uniform of a UNION soldier either a surgeon or in the Pay Corps at the time of the American Civil War. The photgraph was taken around 1861 at ANSON'S of Broadway, New York and was possibly taken soon after he arrived in America. All this has been identified by other RootsChat members.
George was a well known Bristol Surgeon born 1819 and fully documented with census info but William born 1815 has been very elusive. I have no information on him whatsoever, except his baptism and death dates from the family bible.
I am hoping someone can find the arrival or departure of one of these two men so I can at least put a name to the man in the photograph.
Many thanks in advance.
Elizabeth
