Worshipful Company of Plumbers
« on: Friday 14 January 11 16:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I'm looking for some advice.

My wife's great grandfather was a plumber in Brighton between 1891 and 1936 and his obituary in 1936 refers to him as holding "the highest degrees in plumbing including the Worshipful Company of Plumbers and the City and Guilds". The 1891 Census says he was an apprentice (age 19 at the time) and I know he went on to work for the London, Brighton and South Coast railway as a plumber.

I was wondering what sources of records might exist for this period. When I contacted the Worshipful Company of Plumbers they said that all their records were held by Guildhall Library. They did a quick check for me (1891-94) in the Freedom Register with no result so I'm not sure where to go next. Other than his obituary and his early life (up to the 1911 census) I know very little about him than that he was a plumber so any tips about where I might search for info would be greatly appreciated!
