Finley Cluney, Sherbrooke, NS

Was hoping someone living locally could do a birth look up for me

Name :- Finley Cluney
Year :- 1869
Place :- Sherbrooke, Guysborough, Nova Scotia

1871 census shows him living with big family whose head is Thomas
1881 census he is then shown as Finlay Dawson, son of George Dawson and Sarah (nee Cluney), Sarah is also on 1871 with Finley and her father Thomas and her mother and siblings.

I think Finley may well be the illigitamate son of Sarah Cluney, but one never knows what might appear on his birth record.

Also have never been able to find Finley Dawson or Finley Cluney after 1881 in either Canada or the US, so perhaps he may have died between 1881 and 1890 in Sherbrooke ?

There is a Finley Cluney in this tree, son of Thomas and Bridget.  And back to the Sarah dilemma, Sarah born 1849 died 1923 is listed as sister.

Finley on 1871 is listed as brother to Sarah and living with parents Thomas and Bridget

On the 1881 however he is listed as Finlay Dawson and living with Sarah and her husband George Dawson.

He may well be Sarah's brother but he could equally be her son. As back then illigitamate children was different to now and Thomas and Bridget would have quite easily have put him as their son for census purposes in 1871

I suppose the only way to be sure on Finley would be to find some church record of his birth in 1869
