Ellington and WW1 army camp

Hi.

I am doing some research of my own about my grandfather who served in WW1.  I found an internet site that mentioned that a Scottish horse battalion was camped at Ellington.

I wonder if anyone who lives near there would know whereabouts it would have been?

There's a page on the Northumberland communities web site for Ellington but the maps don't show any specific site for the batallion:

It confuses me as to why a scottish batallion would be covering the Northumberland sea defences but that apparently is why they were sent there.
