Thanks so much, but that is not the Charles Warren I am trying to find. I have had a posting on Rootschat previously and everyone had been wonderfully helpful but I still cannot find where Charles Warren was born.

I am sure this is the Charles Warren I am looking for -
Name Date Branch Position Remuneration Year Volume Page
Warren, Charles T. 1 May 1899 Southern Division, Locomotive Branch Cleaner 2 shillings 6 pence per day 1899 3 70
http://fhr.slq.qld.gov.au/qldrail/names_w.htm

I am hoping there is more information on him.
I know he lived in Toowoomba and was working on the Railways & then was transferred to Thulimbah between Dalveen and Glen Aplin (where engines were filled with water).
He was married to Constance Baldwin and was born on 12-1-1872 or 1871 and died 5-12-1960.
Hoping you can help and thanks for your assistance.

I was down the wrong track with the wrong Charles Warren.  The Charles Thomas Warren I was looking at was also a railway man but not yours, he died suddenly while on duty on a train in 1935.

For your Charles Warren who married Constance Baldwin I see there is electoral roll information for Constance Lillie and Thomas Warren  which you probably already have.

I'll see if I can get any information and get back.

SueChris

Just a random thought about Qld Rail employees - for a long time I was stumped trying to find my wife's ancestor - an engine driver from Qld. Turns out he wasn't employed by Qld Rail but drove a cane train on a sugar plantation in Qld. Mining companies today have their own rail networks - don't know about Qld at that time, but could JH have been a miner and also involved in rail without being with Qld rail?

sorry to be a bit random on this thread but do similar records exist for Victorian rail?

cma,

I believe that they once gazetted the names of State Government Railway employees.  What name or names are you looking for.

james davoren casey - around 1890 & on I think as he moved to Williamstown Vic after the death of his wife in 1890. He was apparently a rail employee.

don't want to hijack suechris's thread so should I start a new one?
