Hi James,

Welcome to RootsChat :)

Amy is having problems with her email notifications at the moment. Hopefully I have managed to get a message to her so hope to see her back very soon.

Hi All,

I received a message through Facebook that there were replies here.  I am sorry I missed them. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with any Ruddells that went to Canada. It is quite possible that our Joseph stayed behind.  There were Cargills in Minnesota who were related to the Cargill Grain/Salt operations but we are not connected to them, that we are aware. That branch of Cargills came over many years before ours did.

My grandmother and two of her sisters were the only ones to come here and their name was Allen. Wright was her mother's maiden name and I am hoping to find a connection to someone still in Portadown area. I have an older cousin who lives in the family home in Annaghmore but lost contact and do not know if he is still living. He disappeared from email before he could put me in touch with anyone else.

Thanks for all of the replies! I will check back more often!

Hi , I’m currently researching this family as I have just discovered that my relative was Henry Wright’s ( Tommy’s father) second wife. She was called Annie Mary nee Elliott.
They had a sonJames Elliott Wright who would have been Tommy’s half brother.
I have already found out about Tommy’s sister, Jane ( Moneypenny) and by coincidence I actually live within a mile of Ballylisk!
I would like to find out more about the family, especially James.

Hi Elaine,

I've been dormant on genealogy for a couple of years due to life taking over so your message has dropped in out of the blue!
The Wrights are my husband's family and your email is very interesting and possibly the same family.
I don't remember Henry marrying a second time, or Tommy having a sister named Jane ...
I have him marrying Ann Burke and that's all.
I will go back through the details to refresh my memory and I'll be in contact over the next few days.

We know that he married Lillie Ann Ruddell, my husband's grandmother, and assume it was somewhere in a Chuirch of Ireland, perhaps in Portadown, possibly around 1923.

From GRONI - https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/
Lily Ruddell married Thomas Wright   20th June 1923         Craigavon

I have him marrying Ann Burke and that's all.

Presumably this was the marriage on 18th August 1866 at Mullavilly Parish Church.

This is likely to be the death of Annie........GRONI

Thank you, Kiltaglassan.
Much appreciated.
My husband is on a disconnected branch of the family and we are in Australia, so it's hard to get specific information.
We hadn't had Tommy and Lillie Ann's marriage date before, or Ann Burke's actual date of death either, so your information was very welcome!

As OzJen said, her Henry Wright was only married once, and died in 1910 aged 85. (See reply #15 and also 1901 and 1911 censuses for Ballylisk in reply #2).

Your Henry Wright who married as a widower to Annie Minnie (Mary) Elliott in 1903 was a merchant and was resident in Teemore, Tandragee. He also died in 1910, but was aged 52 and died at Teemore. His son (from his first marriage) Thomas was the informant.

His son James Elliott Wright was born in 1906.
