1841/51/61 Census Request - Blundell Family Eccles Street, Liverpool

Dear All,

I wonder whether someone would be kind enough to look up the Blundell family - most likely at 21 Eccles Street, Liverpool?

I'm expecting to find Thomas Blundell, his wife Jane and at least their daughter Jane who was born at 21 Eccles Street in 1846.

Jane continued to live at the address (or at 19 or the court that seems to have been between the two addresses) and her own children - with the surname Woods - were born in the same address. I've got entries for 1871, 1881 and 1891 for the Woods family at this address and would love to see whether the Blundells are there from 1861 backwards. 

I'd really appreciate anyone being able to provide me with the details of the entries for 1841, 1851 and 1861 for the family at this address.

There's a possible Jane in 1861, 13 years old servant with the Spencer family in Deys Lane, West Derby, Head Robert 24 Lab, Wife Ellen 25, and sons James 4 and Robert 2, all born Lancs West Derby.

There are quite a few Thomas Blundell's in Liverpool, a couple of them with a daughter Jane but can't find any with a wife Jane also, have you considered that he might have been married twice? 

If you think this Jane is possibly yours send me a pm with your email address and I'll send you the scan, also do you have any idea, possibly from later censuses, of Thomas and Jane's ages which might help narrow the search.

This was a long time ago so you have probably found these people, but I have both Woods and Blundell in Eccles Street, Liverpool in my family tree (well, my wife's actually).  Jane was my wife's 2x Great Grandmother - Born 20 Jan 1846 21 Eccles Street, D:8 Jul 1893 Liverpool, Eccles St.  She married Thomas J Woods and their daughter, Catherine married Thomas Lawson.

My question is: whereabouts was Eccles Street? It seemingly no longer exists, along with many other roads and streets in the poorer areas of Liverpool especially around Everton Brow, Netherfield Road et cetera.

Eccles Street ran between the canal and Vauxhall Road, next to the gasworks.

Thank you so much, I would not have got there; all the features have gone, including the canal.  I have a portion of the 1864 large scale map of Liverpool that just included this area. Tucked between the gas works and tannery the atmosphere must have been oppressive!

And a sugar refinery just across the canal.  It must have stunk most of the time.
