We visited Benholm Kirk some 10 years ago and may have information of value to JeanP.  Please contact at (*).  My wife's grandfather Masson is buried in the kirkyard.

Hello Jenny,

Please can you repost your query on the KIncardineshire board under a new title, give as much details as you know, in particular surnames (which you missed giving) and dates of birth/death/marriage etc.

Thanks
Jean

Is this the same Joseph Freeman born 1790 in Kinneff and Catterline to James Freeman and Ann Taylor who married in 1776?

If so, my husband is related to Joseph through Joseph Freeman and Sarah Collie's daughter Elizabeth Freeman - b. 1820, Kincardineshire, Scotland.
Elizabeth married Alexander Davidson Milne (b. 1836, Kincardineshire, Scotland.)
Two of their sons were born were born in Aberdeen - John Milne in 1857, and David Milne in 1859.
They then moved to Napier, New Zealand where a third son Joseph Milne was born in 1861.
Elizabeth died in Hamilton, New Zealand in 1902; and Alexander died in Napier, New Zealand in 1922.
Their son John Milne married Lucetta Scott, and had a daughter called Jessie Milne.
Jessie Milne married Alan Raymond George, and had a son Gordon George who married Alice Mclaren who had my husband. My husband and I moved from Hamilton, New Zealand in 2005, and now live in Qld, Australia.

If this is the correct link, do you have any info. on the Freeman family from James Freeman and Ann Taylor's roots? that you would be willing to share?
My husbands side of the family has been a mystery up until now.
Thanks. JoCat.

Hi Jean,

I know this is a long shot because I can not come up with any information of my Great Great Grandfather's death in Benholm. He lived on Black Street, Benholm Parish, Johnshaven up until his death between 1851-1854. I am assuming he must be buried at Benholm. His name was Adair Lockhart and since he died between that time there is no death certificate but I am keeping my fingers crossed that I  may be able to find his burial. Maybe since you have the pre-1855 index he may be listed. Thanks for any help you can give, it is greatly appreciated.
