Hi I have a similar situation a Thomas Henry Abbott was born to my friends grandmother in 1904 at the same workhouse and she suspects that he was the illigitimate child of one of the Berwicks who lived at Attingham Hall and was a aristocratic family in that time, cover ups were always around at this time just a suggestion maybe the father was a very important person who did not wish to be identified.
