Auntie May for a cleanup please
« on: Friday 07 January 11 19:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi - wondered if any of you wonderful people could work your magic on Auntie May? she was a lovely lady - widowed at the start of WW1 with 2 baby daughters, she lived till she was over 100! We have only just discovered this picture of her, and would love it to be improved a bit, if possible, as it seems to be very faded. Also if anyone could estimate a date that would be good. She was born in 1879, and to me looks a little older on this than on her marriage picture in 1912.

Wow - these are all amazing! I love the way you each bring out something different from the photograph - she looks absolutely gorgeous. I will pass them all on to her grand-daughter who will be thrilled.
As to the date - The photo is so faded, but I thought it looked a bit like she was wearing an apron, and wondered if it could be late WW1 and she was working as a nurse? I know her late husband's parents looked after her 2 small children while she worked, but I don't know what she did.

Many, many thanks for your time and skills

Kate

Hi Kate

What a smashing photo, shame it wasn't scanned at 300 dpi though.

Kind regards
