East Halton Addresses
« on: Monday 03 January 11 15:02 GMT (UK) »
In the 1861 census (ref RG9/2402/71 page 8 ) of East Halton my Moore family live on what appears to be Ferry Rd which is enumerated next to King St. I have looked on Google & cannot find a Ferry Rd at east Halton - only Goxhill. King St I can find. Can anyone please give an explanation of this?
Thanks,
John

My guess would be that the road no longer exists?

Since 1861 a railway and station was built, so another possibility is that Ferry Road was renamed Station Road.

And, of course, Immingham Dock was built in 1912; so some roads may have been built over?

It seems that Ferry Road ceased to exist somewhere between 1881 and 1891.  Doing an address search for 1891 and 1901 draws a blank.   In 1881 five families lived there.
I think there could be a sheet missing for that area in 1871 as neither Ferry Road nor King Street can be found in that census.

It's all there (177 households in 1871, cf 169 in 1861) - it's just that very few things are named.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.
