There was also a Dimambro's ice cream shop in Consett next to the Rex cinema in Medomsley Road from at least the 1950s.

There is a photograph of Dimambro's ice cream carts in Durham featured on page 150 of ' DURHAM The Photographic Collection' by Michael Richardson.

Also on page 78 is a photo of Charlie Dimambro outside 'Gilesgate's first ice cream shop' at 82 Gilesgate Durham.

Hello

I was in Durham today taking some photos and came across an old almost abandoned cemetery in which was a gravestone with the name Salvatore Dimambro who died on 1st August 1911. His wife's name was Elizabeth and her name is on the gravestone but I could not see the date of her death.

Since this was an unusual name to me I did a search on Google and came across a post on Rootschat and hence this message. I have a photo I took of the gravestone  so  if you want a copy and location of cemetery please let me know.

Keith

Hi, thanks for contacting me. That would be Redhills Cemetery and the two graves are those of my great grandparents. Durham CC was supposed to have tidied the graves up as my father paid them to do so some years ago but now he has died and I would not now be able to know exactly when and how much he paid etc.
I would be very grateful for any photos that you may have taken.
