McCann / Castles M 1838 +/- 1 year

Hi folks,

Has anyone any info on the wedding of George McCann and Elizabeth Jane Castles (Cassels/ Castels) on 7th Sep 1837. They had two children, Jane Elizabeth and Lucinda before emigrating to Canada in the 1840's (where they had 7 further children). George was certainly from the Armagh area, but apart from figuring out that Elizabeth was from Co Down, I'm struggling to find anything on Elizabeth at the moment such as parents/location

One thing to add to the above post (rather than edit it and miss those who have already read it...).

The youngest son of Geroge and Elizabeth, born in approx 1861 in Canada was William George Wesley McCann - perhaps indicating a link (tying together the Co Down link of Elizabeth and the name Wesley) to Wesley Castles who is listed on Griffiths as having property in the Magheralin area (as does two other Castles).

There is another Elizabeth Jane Castles, b 1843 Derryadd, parents Richard C and Isabella McKenna. She married Samuel McKeown in Ardmore and they migrated to Australia. Her brother John married Elizabeth McCawley and migrated to Pensylvania and they had a son Wesley b 1890.

Perhaps these common names are a link to your family?

Hi, Thanks for posting, but at the moment the Elizabeth Jane Castles you mention is not part of my tree.
"My" Elizabeth Janes Casstles/Cassells was born in Feb 1816, married a George McCann in Sep 1837, they emigrated to Canada in the early 1840's and she died in Apr 1902.

Apparently she deliberately broke all contact with her immediate family for some reason, refusing to see a brother who visited her in Canada.

I can't find any record of her at all!
