Henry McLean & Hannah Griffin
« on: Friday 31 December 10 14:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for any information regarding the birth or any family history of my Great Great Grandfather and Grandmother, Henry McLean & Hannah Griffin.

I have found a record of a marriage of the same in the Parish of Duneane in 1854, which I am quite sure is them.

My Family Folklore relates that they originally came from Moneyglass, which is in the Parish of Duneane, although have no proof of this.

They were Roman Catholic.  They movd to Glasgow arounf the mid 1860's where Hannah Died in 1870, and Henry disappears from any records.

Any help appreciated

Civil registration of births (and Catholic marriages) started in 1864 so you'd need to check what church records exist for earlier period.

Under Antrim Resources there are links to information about church records- think this page will give you an idea of what might be available:

PRONI is closed until the Spring but the microfilmed church records are being made available at Cregagh Library-

Hi,
I can find a record of two children born in Glasgow, Hannah in 1867 and Henry in 1870. However I can find no records in Ireland.

REgards
Stewart, Irwin, Morrison, Haslett, Murrell - Dungiven area Co. Londonderry

They were born in Ireland, and so were their 4 children, they came to Glasgow mid 1860's as Hannah death at 1870.  her parents were John (famer) and Helen either McCall or McCool.

Regards

It's quite likely that the Irish-born children were born before the start of civil registration (1864) which is why you'll need to search for church records.
