Thanks for that Manchester Rambler, now I'm even more confused ???

Another look has me pretty convinced they are the wrong one's, as I have Benjamin as born in 1870.

The 1845 marriage is on the IGI and was 2.3.1845 at Stoke Prior.  As that is where William & Elizabeth are living in 1851 - I think it's the right marriage

There are 2 different people called Benjamin HOLLIS - one born c1842 and one born c1870, but William TOLLEY (b. c1822 Upton) seems to be the same person on all censuses - ?

Louisa TOLLEY on the 1861 census seems to match ELLEN L in 1871, and Sarah TOLLEY on the 1861 census matches Sarah L in 1871.

Willaim TOLLEY is living in Eagle Lane, Tipton in 1861, Eagle St, Tipton in 1871, and Eagle Passage, Tipton in 1881.

Utterly confusing, using the UKBMD link (thanks Carole) I have located a couple of people who should guide me in the right direction.  Looks like a trip to Sandwell reg's office very soon.

www.westmidlandsbmd.org.uk shows it was at Tipton, St Martin (Pepper Box)

I think this is the death of first wife Elizabeth

That's what I've been thinking.  But who was the other kids mother(s)? bit of a rascal if you ask me.  His birth registration has him as Tolley so I'm guessing William was the father, although on the census he appears as Hollis.
