Hi TracyW,
He was definately born on the 1846 date as i have his birth certificate. His wife's maiden name was Sarah Edwards Bowbrick.
Good thought about looking at the area around the regimental depot in regard to the census, didn't clock that one at all...doh..!!
I'll need to find out whether the regiment, which had two battalions at this point, made up from the old 99th and the 62nd, had one on home duty recruiting and one on foreign duty which was normally the case.
I know his wife travelled with the regiment to South Africa as his son was born out there in 1879.
Their children were Ethel (born 1874) Stephen Joseph (born 1879) Lilly (born 1884)
The date you have for the Thomas Joseph Wilson death puts him at 69 whereas he would have been 63 in 1909....
Thanks for looking this up though, any further help or suggestions you may have would be great...I need all the help i can get...hope the above info you asked helps you help me..!!
Regards
